A 48-year-old woman allegedly carjacked a white Mercedes delivery van in Parramatta, NSW, with the driver still inside. Police responded quickly, initiating a pursuit that was later terminated for safety reasons, before tactical officers located and apprehended the suspect in Rosehill after the van crashed into a power pole. 

The driver of the van was found unharmed, while the suspect was taken into custody with visible injuries. The woman has been refused bail and is set to appear in court facing multiple charges related to the incident.

Not the sight you expect to see on a Saturday morning. Parramatta locals confused as cops swarm their quiet street while a delivery van speeds over a nature strip. Not long after, less than 10 kilometres down the road, another shock for residents. I saw a pursuit coming over here and a couple of cars crashed. So I thought maybe, and the police also followed. So I was literally scared and I ran inside. With a gun pointed to her head and restrained by a tactical squad member, this woman wasn't going anywhere. It's alleged the 48-year-old had carjacked a white Mercedes delivery van and drove off with the driver still inside. Police were called to the M4 motorway in Blacktown after reports a woman was seen trying to escape out the passenger door. A pursuit began when police say the vehicle failed to stop for officers before being terminated for safety concerns. It was here on King Street that police located the 30-year-old woman. She was left unscathed from the ordeal. Meanwhile, poli and the tactical team continued their search for the driver. The tactical operations group then crashed into the van in Rosehill, sending it into a power pole. The car banged into that pole. I saw the sparks coming all over. Cops, military gear start running out and they just chased her sort of through the back and then saw her with a big sort of blood on her face and then got carried away. The woman is tonight behind bars, refused bail to appear in court tomorrow, where she'll face a string of charges. Emma Olsen, 10 News.
