The service, the first of its kind in the state to operate virtually, supports women in South Western Sydney and accepts referrals from the Nepean Blue Mountains, Western New South Wales, and Murrumbidgee health districts.

The hub provides free access to consultations, making care more accessible and removing financial barriers. General practitioners can also seek advice for patients with less complex symptoms. The initiative aims to address the significant number of women affected by menopause, with doctors suggesting that the true prevalence of severe symptoms is likely higher than currently reported. The service is already conducting around 50 consultations each week.

To both have a convenient way to get care but for us to follow up without the worries about accessing through cost has really been what people describe as a game changer. While GPs seeing women with less complex symptoms can seek advice too. This is about making sure this area of health care gets lifted up and gets the attention it needs. Up to one in four women experience severe or debilitating menopause symptoms and that's just the ones we know about. Doctors say the true figure is almost certainly higher. Already the service is seeing about 50 consults every week. You realise that until a service like this is developed there really isn't a voice for people's problems. No more suffering in silence.
