Now at age 36, she's back for her 5th and final Olympics. Seems fitting. Things seem very aligned and I know this one's going to be special as well. We met up with the forward after practice in Seattle. The grind is the same. Her role isn't. She's now Team USA's Olympic captain. Some of the people in that room are lifelong friends and people I consider family and so to find success at the end of a grueling journey together would be a wonderful reward to really put a bow on everything. Knight began playing hockey when she was five made Team USA as a teen. Today she's a legend of the sport in this country. And record setter. Knight is the only American hockey player to appear in five Winter Olympics. She's faced both wins and losses. There was gold in 2018, but otherwise hard losses to top rival Canada. It brings out the best level of competition. I think that's what makes the rivalry so great. Team USA is favored to win the gold this year. Knight says it's the relationships off the ice that help them succeed because we understand that we're part of something bigger than ourselves. For us to have been around the game for as long as we have been, we've definitely had a positive impact on it and we're passing that culture that's being received extremely well. Off the Olympic podium, Knight helped build a new professional women's league. There wasn't a space for us years ago, and to be able to help facilitate and shape that space is something I'm super honored to have been a part of and continue to be a part of in her first season with the league night played in Boston. She now competes with the Seattle Torn and became the team's first ever captain. Still, she says there's more work to be done. We gotta continue to push and sort of instill that competitiveness and still pushing the envelope, demanding more, expecting more, creating more. She hopes to play in two more world championships and stay involved in the sport. I grew up in this sport and it's given me so many things and hopefully I've given something back.
