These transformations aim to protect residents by enhancing storm management strategies. In Hoboken, for instance, urban parks have been developed not only as recreational spaces but also to manage stormwater. These parks and other resilient projects across the city are designed to absorb and hold nearly two million gallons of water, reducing street runoff and minimizing flood risks. The city is integrating green infrastructure such as rain gardens and permeable walkways that allow water to seep into the ground, thereby reducing the risk of flooding.

Similarly, other cities are adopting Hoboken's approach. Austin is implementing measures to help cool the city and mitigate flooding, learning from its experiences with multiple extreme weather events. Investments have been made in developing wetlands. In Charleston, efforts are underway to raise roads and restore marshlands, effectively adapting to rising sea levels. Collectively, these cities view storm management as an opportunity to rethink infrastructure, aiming to build a more sustainable and resilient urban environment.
