President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the agreement will help compensate for the country's damaged gas production as winter approaches.

The announcement comes as Ukraine confronts a significant corruption scandal involving state-owned energy companies, with allegations of kickbacks totaling around 100 million U.S. dollars and the resignation of two government ministers. Despite the scandal, Zelensky has pledged reforms and continues to seek military aid from European allies.

The deal with Greece comes as Ukraine faces a major corruption scandal involving its state-owned energy companies. High-profile suspects with close ties to Zelensky allegedly took kickbacks from contracts with suppliers totaling about 100 million U.S. dollars. Two government ministers even resigned. This expert says while the scandal hurts Ukraine's reputation, allies' support for the country remains strong. Russia's invasion of Ukraine is an international threat and definitely in terms of political consensus a threat to European security. President Zelensky vowed to overhaul state-owned energy companies, renew their leadership and conduct a full audit of their finances.
