The Turkish national defence ministry announced that the grounding is to allow for detailed technical inspections of the C-130 fleet, with only those passing checks permitted to resume flights. The crashed plane was acquired from Saudi Arabia in 2012, entered service in 2014, underwent modernization in 2022, and had its most recent maintenance in October.
