Russian officials and some defense analysts have questioned the credibility of the deadline, citing previous changes in Trump’s approach. Experts also note that promised missile systems may not address the ongoing threat from frequent Russian drone attacks.

Trump announced that the U.S. would sell NATO weapons to give to Ukraine but details are scant. Even the EU is trying to figure out how it will work. We welcome President Trump's announcement to send more weapons to Ukraine although we would like to see U.S. to share the burden. But Trump insists other NATO countries will be footing the bill. He dismissed questions about why he isn't imposing more sanctions on Russia and its trading partners now. Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov seized on Trump's track record of changing his mind. Mockingly saying the deadline used to be 24 hours and it was 100 days. We've all been through this. It's difficult to see this as being a step change. This defense expert says the lack of specifics is concerning as is the delay for more punishing sanctions. He's talking about another 50 days. Well Putin will use all of those. He will use at least 49 of those days to continue keep attacking Ukraine. He says the promise of more Patriot missile systems will help but they aren't really effective in defending against one of Ukraine's most pressing problems.
