Ongoing negotiations reportedly involve the release of hostages by Hamas and Palestinian prisoners by Israel, as well as the resumption of United Nations humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Despite positive signals, significant issues remain unresolved, including the extent and timing of an Israeli military pullback in Gaza and whether hostilities could resume after a proposed 60-day ceasefire. No firm timeline for an agreement has been established, and both sides remain cautious about the prospects for an imminent end to the conflict.

There's a very good chance that we'll have a settlement, an agreement of some kind this week, and maybe next week, if not. CBS News Senior Foreign Correspondent Elizabeth Palmer continues her reporting from Tel Aviv and joins us now. Good morning, Liz. You know, your last report mentioned how neither Israelis nor Palestinians can really bring themselves to believe that the war may soon be over, but just as we hear that there may not be a deal this week, what is the latest? Well, broadly speaking, the signals are still positive, but maddeningly ambiguous. So we know that both sides appear to have agreed that 10 of the 20 hostages, the living ones, would be released in that 60-day ceasefire window, and that in return, Israel will release Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. A senior Israeli official says that the United Nations will be able to deliver aid again after being sidelined since May in favor of the privately run and U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. But there are still serious sticking points, including the thorny issue of how far and when the Israeli army would pull back in Gaza, and whether Israel could restart the war at the end of the 60 days if there's no agreement on how to proceed forward. However, again, the really crucial issue which is when, when could this start? And on that, we have nothing solid. Steve Whitkoff, President Trump's envoy, like President Trump himself, was sounding optimistic that it would be by the end of this week, but it is Thursday, and we haven't heard anything. Yeah, okay.
