President Donald Trump executed a series of executive orders aimed at reforming government operations according to his administration’s goals. Among these orders, Trump mandated that federal employees return to in-office work full-time, ending the option for remote work. He also put a freeze on new federal hiring, with an exception for military positions.

In addition, Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Treaty, notifying the United Nations of this decision. Other executive orders addressed issues such as free speech, government censorship, the cost of living, and the alleged weaponization of government against previous administrations. These themes have been consistent with Trump's narrative during his campaign.

During a speech accompanying the signing of these orders, Trump referenced families of hostages, promising to aid in the return of their loved ones. He also indicated future executive actions related to immigration—though no such order was signed at this event—and mentioned potential pardons for those involved in the January 6 Capitol incident, describing them as "prisoners." Following these developments, Marco Rubio was confirmed as a member of Trump's cabinet, marking the first official confirmation in his administration.

Well, we are just wrapping up here. Trump just signed a handful of executive orders and he signed every single executive order with a different pen and he is currently throwing those pens into the audience for people who are there to catch and take home as a memento of this day. He signed a flurry of executive orders. Now, I will say it is unclear what the implementation of some of these executive orders really look like. A couple of them are very clear in terms of asking federal workers to return to work full time to be in the office five days a week. That is one executive order that he signed a freeze on federal hiring except for the military. Another one that he signed withdrawing from the Paris Climate Treaty and then writing a letter to the United Nations explaining that they are doing so. Those are really the more tangible ones that we have seen but there are some other ones that he talked about relating to free speech. He said he is directing the federal government to order the restoration of freedom of speech and preventing government censorship. He has also signed an executive order to end the weaponization of government against previous administrations and one to address the cost of living crisis. If you look at these, these are a lot of the themes that we saw throughout the campaign. Talking about the cost of living, talking about climate and that not necessarily being a priority for this administration. In his speech this morning, he talked about drilling here and using our resources here. Obviously, the Paris Climate Treaty does not fit in with that. Talking about the weaponization of government. Andrew, this is really just a little bit of all of the different issues that we have seen him talk about over the last year. But really, he has been campaigning, I would say, for the last four years. And one of the biggest that we did not see him sign there a moment ago has to do with those January 6, in his words, prisoners, he signaled in that speech that there would be pardons coming. Now, the extent of the pardons, if it is a blanket pardon, if there are some specifications for who does and does not qualify. We've been following that really since President Donald Trump was elected in his campaign and said at some point that it would be on a case by case basis. But we can expect, as we heard foreshadowed there, that there's going to be more executive action later on, even today and certainly going into tomorrow, Alex. Yeah, absolutely. And, you know, what's not lost on me that he called them January 6 hostages as he was standing in front of Noah Argamani, who was a hostage in Gaza for roughly a year. He brought these families on stage saying that he was going to bring their loved ones home. There are a few families there that are expecting their loved ones in phase one. Another one, Adon Alexander, in phase two, and then other family members that were on stage today that their loved one is dead and they are hoping to bring home their body. So he brought them on stage to talk about this issue. And then they ended up standing on stage behind him for the duration of this speech. One other thing we didn't hear him or see him sign in terms of executive orders is immigration. And we know that there's multiple executive orders that have to do with this immigration issue. And so I think that was really the big thing that some people might have been looking for here, since that was really the galvanizing force, I would say, during his inaugural address and during different things that we have heard over the course of the day. But I'm sure his supporters will be paying attention to the ones that he signs in the Oval Office as well. Absolutely. And a little bit more news. We are seeing reports that Marco Rubio was just confirmed. He would be the first member of Donald Trump's cabinet officially confirmed just a moment ago.
