As part of this order, the U.S. military will be deployed to the area, and millions of undocumented migrants are expected to be deported. The administration plans to halt all illegal entry and commence the process of deporting criminal aliens back to their countries of origin.

The executive orders will see troops patrolling the southern border as well as the shutdown of an asylum app introduced by the former Biden administration. Many migrants had their appointments with U.S. Customs abruptly canceled following Trump's inauguration. Immigration has been a key focus of Trump's campaign, and his policies now align with efforts by Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who is stepping up surveillance and allocating land near the border to build deportation camps.

However, the stringent immigration policy could have economic consequences for U.S. border towns. McAllen's Republican mayor expressed concerns that the deportation of undocumented workers could negatively impact local farms and construction projects, which rely heavily on this labor force. Additionally, increased border scrutiny could affect commerce, as illustrated by a truck driver worried about potential delays in avocado shipments due to intensified inspections.

Trump's emergency order, set to commence at 6 a.m., is expected to involve immediate immigration raids. He has also reinstated the "Remain in Mexico" policy, which requires asylum seekers to stay in Mexico until their claims are processed.
