The Trump administration has announced that a final deal concerning TikTok is anticipated to be signed soon, following discussions between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The agreement is expected to address data security concerns, grant American investors control over TikTok's algorithm, and ensure the majority of the board is American, with data stored in the United States.

This development comes as part of wider trade negotiations between the United States and China, which also include discussions on tariffs, rare earth export controls, agricultural purchases, and cooperation on precursor chemicals for fentanyl. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant confirmed a framework for these talks, and both sides are working towards resolving key issues.

The Description News White House correspondent Haley Bolshe joins us now with the very latest. So how do we, where do we stand with regards to TikTok? Because it was very controversial when it first came up, but now it appears that it could be resolved. And it certainly appears that way. President Trump says they may sign a final deal on TikTok this week. And it comes as he is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Of course, the issue of TikTok has been a central question in the dialogue between the United States and China. Last month, the president announced a deal on TikTok. He says Xi Jinping gave the go ahead for, and at that time, administration officials described it as a protecting data security, giving American investors control of the algorithm with the majority serving on the board American, as well as the data being stored in the United States. President Trump indicating that he expects this to be a part of the discussion between the leaders on Thursday. Listen. We might, we might, that'll be one of the things we're discussing. Somebody reported it's been approved recently. I mean, we got an original approval from President Xi. I expect we'll have an approval, but I'd rather wait till a couple of days. And so, Joe, one of the questions going forward will be if there is a final approval out of that meeting on Thursday, what changes, if any, there are compared to what we saw announced last month. But this comes as the president is looking to secure a broader trade deal between the United States and China with Treasury Secretary Scott Besant announcing that there is a framework for that meeting with Trump and Xi Jinping telling the Sunday shows over the weekend he is not anticipating the 100% tariff originally threatened absent a deal is expecting a deferral on China's more strict rare earth export controls, saying that they agreed on agricultural purchases and for China to help with precursor chemicals to fentanyl. So certainly expected to be a very substantive conversation potentially on Thursday between those leaders down.
