The latest episode of The Simpsons and season 36 finale shocked everyone after they showcased what happens after the death of a core family member. So who is it? In an episode set partially in the future, Bart and Lisa are seen three decades ahead coming to terms with the death of Marge, who is seen hanging out in heaven with Ringo Starr, who, to be clear, is still alive at the moment. The Simpsons had killed off a few characters over its 36 years of running time, but never have they shown the death of a core family member in a flash-forward future-focused episode, which makes it even more shocking. Fans have debated whether previous flash-forward episodes should be treated as canon, as some episodes have clashed with one another. In season 11, Lisa is seen becoming the President of the United States, but then in season 23, you see some Christmas photos that show Lisa, 30 years later, married to Milhouse. And although older, both Marge and Homer are still there. Whether this latest look into The Simpsons' future is canon or not, we can expect Marge to be back alive in the present, all the way into its renewed 40th season. Speaking of death, the new Mummy movie is wrapped. That's what the CEO of Blumhouse Productions said about the studio's upcoming The Mummy reboot. Quote, "...wrapped, finished. I haven't seen the final cut. It's in editing, but I'm very excited about it. The vibes are very good. I have a very good feeling about our Mummy." It's the latest attempt at restarting the Mummy movie franchise, with the last one being the ill-fated Tom Cruise movie that was so bad it killed Universal's MCU-style Dark Universe experiment. The writing, or should I say hieroglyphs, were on the wall for that movie when the trailer was accidentally uploaded without a proper sound mix. This new Mummy reboot is set to be a horror reimagining. Dee Cronin, writer and director of 2023's Evil Dead Rise, has been on board for this project and he's said that this one will be unlike any other Mummy movie you've ever laid your eyeballs on before. And he's apparently, quote, "...digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening." Don't dig too deep, you know what happened to the dwarves. The studio is feeling confident as the movie heads into 10 months of post-production and is set to be unwrapped April 2026.
