To address this gender gap, the United Kingdom has launched the 'More Than Equal' program, which offers training tailored to young women and aims to help them reach the podium. Originally from Wales, the teenager already competes in Formula 4 races, which can reach top speeds of 210 to 240 kilometres per hour. And she has big dreams. She wants to become a Formula 1 world champion. However, it is difficult for Parker to identify with the current champions, who are all men. It's quite sad because there's no one to really look up to, you know. I know the only point scorer was Leila Lombarda, who was quite impressive in the sport, but it is quite sad that there is nobody to look up to, female-wise, in Formula 1. While it is possible for women to compete alongside men in Formula 1, examples remain few and far between. Leila Lombardi was the last female driver to finish a Grand Prix 50 years ago. But as the motorsport celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, the birthplace of Formula 1, the United Kingdom, is trying to change things. A program called More Than Equal is attracting young women to the tracks. By offering training tailored to them, it aims to propel them onto the podiums. The program that we're building acknowledges the physiological, psychological and technical differences of the females. Where they start, how they develop, how they learn, the adolescent brain, the way in which their bodies change throughout their menstrual cycle and their maturation. Sky Parker is already inspiring others. And more and more young girls dream of joining her on the circuit.
