The same teenager is accused of continuing a crime spree in Sydney, including attempted robbery and assault at Central Station, and stealing a backpack in Surrey Hills. Police apprehended the boy after a stolen vehicle crashed in Seaforth. He was previously granted bail but has now been refused and will return to court. The case has prompted renewed discussion about youth crime and the effectiveness of current bail laws in New South Wales.

Mick Sakota runs Maury's Comfort Inn. During a break-in last month, he was stabbed by a 13-year-old boy. That teenager is now alleged to have continued his crime spree at Sydney's Central Station. Following a group of women and attempting to rob them, a 59-year-old man intervened and the boy allegedly punched the Good Samaritan repeatedly in the face and tried to steal from him. The boy is also accused of approaching a 36-year-old at Surrey Hills and stealing her backpack. Police eventually catching up with the teen when a ute stolen from Dolls Point crashed at Seaforth yesterday. Look, it's pretty gut-wrenching stuff. We already have strengthened bail laws. We did that earlier this year and last. The motel assault saw the 13-year-old charged with aggravated break-and-enter and wounding while disguising his face. He was on bail when he faced court again with robbery and aggravated assault charges. This time refused bail. The teenager will return to court next week. This case again raising the question of how to weigh up community safety versus letting allegedly violent young offenders back on the streets. The Coalition says it's bail bill aimed to reverse the youth crime revolving door. The governments were really sensible. They were aimed at getting bipartisan support. Sadly, the government chose to ignore that and unfortunately, we've seen crime escalating again. We will always do what we can to make sure that every neighbourhood feels safe. Sarah Navin, 10 News.
