A statue honoring Superman has been unveiled outside the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, marking the fulfillment of a long-held dream for the families of the superhero’s creators. The Siegel and Schuster Society organized the event, which also included the dedication of a monument to Jerry Siegel, Joe Schuster, and Joanne Siegel, who inspired the character Lois Lane.

The area outside the convention center has been renamed Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster Plaza in recognition of their contributions. Superman, first conceived at Glenville High School during the Great Depression, is celebrated as the first superhero in the comics industry, with Lois Lane highlighted as a pioneering female character.

The Siegel and Schuster Society unveiled a statue outside Huntington Convention Center today honoring the Man of Steel. Next to it is another monument honoring Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster. They dreamt up Superman from their desks at Glenville High School. The second statue also honors Jerry's wife Joanne, who was the inspiration for Lois Lane. Overcoming obstacles was actually woven into their hearts and soul. Superman the first superhero in the comics industry and Lois Lane, let's not forget her, a role model for strong, gutsy women, both of those characters exist today because those three teenagers believed in themselves during the very discouraging years of the Great Depression. The area outside the convention center has also been renamed for Superman's creators. It's now called Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster Plaza.
