The S&P Global U.S. Services PMI rose to 55.7 in July, up from the mid-month reading of 55.2. This marks the highest level for the index since December of the previous year. The composite PMI also improved, reaching 55.1, which is similarly the best reading since December. The service sector, being the largest component of the U.S. economy, continues to show signs of robust activity. Markets remained relatively stable following the release, with trading ranges tightening after recent volatility.

Rick Santelli has those numbers for us, Rick. Yes, David. These are S&P, ISM at the top of the hour. Services PMI, July final improved from the mid-month, mid-month 55.2. This reading, 55.7. They both remain, even the revision, the highest level of the year going back to Dec of last year. Same could be said for the composite figure, moved from 54.6 to 55.1. Best of the year, best since December. These are important. Service sector's the largest swath of the economy. You may have noticed we're hovering in the low 420s and 10s for the third straight session in a row as the ranges really are getting quite compact after the wild ride we had after Friday's jobs report.
