A stubborn stationary front that is stalled across the Southeast will continue to be the source for soaking rain this week. Showers and thunderstorms could produce localized flash flooding due to the relentless rain. Flood watches are in effect for places like Atlanta, Montgomery, Alabama, and Tallahassee, Florida.

The southeastern United States is experiencing ongoing unsettled weather, with a persistent boundary and a ridge to the west directing energy and moisture into the region. This has resulted in continued rainfall and foggy mornings, while temperatures have remained notably cooler than typical for this time of year. 

In some locations, such as Atlanta, record low high temperatures have been observed, with highs reaching only 68 degrees, significantly below previous records for August. The cooler, soggy conditions are expected to persist through the rest of the week, marking an unusual weather pattern for the region during this season.

We still have a boundary that's going to keep us cool, and we stay unsettled because there's a ridge to our west, and that actually just directs a bunch of energy into the south as we go through the week, and there it is for you. So as we go midweek, we have a piece of energy as we head later in the week. We'll see it as well. So we actually stay on that soupy, soggy side where you're gonna have some fog in the morning, and at least our temperatures stay on the cooler side through the rest of the week, but again, it is August. It can't stay like this forever. It's kind of crazy that we are feeling temperatures this cool, and we had record cool highs forecast for the day today. Look at Atlanta, 68, only getting to 68. It is, in August. I've never seen it happen in August. June, July, September, yes. I've never seen a true front come through here in August. Just saying, 39 years. And the old record cold high was 73, so we are beating that by quite a bit here. We're talking five degrees.
