A pair of winter storms is set to impact the northern United States, bringing persistent winter conditions to regions including Marquette, Keweenaw Peninsula, and areas stretching to Green Bay. The storms are expected to deliver a mix of snow and ice, with some locations, such as Duluth, facing several days of snow removal and plow activity.

Significant ice accumulation, particularly from Wausau to Rhinelander, could result in hazardous travel and risks to trees and power lines. High elevations in areas from Caribou to Holton are likely to see substantial wintry precipitation, while lower elevations near rivers and lakes, such as Burlington and Lake Champlain, will primarily experience rain.

Keweenaw Peninsula, make your way to Rhinelander, Green Bay. You see some green filling in. And then we have this farther back out to the west. So it is going to be the one-two punch. What we can expect, though, from right now through the evening hours, some locations around Duluth, you'll have some shovel work. Could be, I'd say, five days. The plows are going to be busy, giving plenty of room out there. But this is more problematic. If you can make a choice between the snow or the ice, this could be crippling. Now folks, when you go to Wausau up to Rhinelander, if we're talking about accretion, it could be up to 3 quarters of an inch. That's a lot of weight on trees and power lines. Also, bridges and overpasses are going to have that veneer out there, which is going to make driving very, very difficult, if not at all impossible. Meanwhile, from Caribou to Holton, we start off with that mix. High elevation, you're going to have quite a bit of it. From Greenville, you've got a variance of colors. But notice Burlington, you see, with the exception of the White Mountains, primarily rain along the banks of the river, of course, and out by the lake, Lake Champlain.
