A boat explosion in Prescott, Wisconsin led to several people being injured and transported to the hospital with burns. Authorities are uncertain about the exact number of people on board at the time, but confirm that everyone has been accounted for and there were no fatalities reported.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with some individuals ejected into the river and others jumping off the boat to escape the flames. A bystander, Colton Anderson, intervened to help control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby docks and boats before first responders arrived. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.

Thanks for joining us tonight on Fox 9 and Fox Local. I'm Karen Scullin. Our top story tonight, a boat explosion in Prescott, Wisconsin. You can see flames and smoke billowing into the air. The police chief says they're not sure why the explosion started, but everyone is accounted for. Fox 9's Leon Purvis joins us in studio live after being on scene this afternoon. Leon? Karen, this viewer video was sent in. It shows the boat fully engulfed in flames. I'm told by the chief there are no fatalities that they know of, but here's what we know. Prescott police tell Fox 9 they're not sure how many people were on board, but at the time of the explosion there were multiple people ejected into the river and some got off the boat. All patients went to the hospital. The injuries are burns, but they're not sure what degree. One person who was boating describes to us what they saw when they heard a loud boom. It was pretty traumatizing, especially seeing the people jump off the boat and swimming and screaming and hearing them scream. Yeah, pretty traumatizing. Now, many of the eyewitnesses say there was a good Samaritan who helped keep the fire from spreading to the other docks and other boats. His name is Colton Anderson. He saw the boat burning and jumped in on his boat and sprung into action. You see him in the video there using his boat to push the boat on fire away. Eyewitnesses and Anderson tell us he got there before first responders. So I got up, tied the boat up, trimmed her up, spread the boat, the burning boat down with water with the prop, good rooster tail, diminished the flames enough, put the flames out on the dock, was able to push the boat out from the dock and the other boat that was getting ready to lay on fire. Anderson tells Fox nine he kept the fire under control until first responders put it out. The Wisconsin DNR is investigating the boat explosion live in studio. Leon Purvis Fox nine.
