Further north, more than 100 vehicles became stranded in unprecedented snow on the New England Highway and Waterfall Way, with SES crews assisting in their safe return. The state also experienced strong winds and hazardous surf, leading to warnings for coastal activities. The wild weather even affected sporting events, with lightning strikes pausing a major rugby game.

The two women in their 20s only the attention of authorities after another person made a desperate call for help. A male person was seen clinging to trees in the causeway. The water running nearly six metres high. But today calmer conditions allowed for search efforts to ramp up, while other rescue crews began going door to door in Tamworth, Gunnedah and Manila, advising residents at risk of flooding to move to higher ground. Further north, SES crews were assisting after more than 100 vehicles got stuck in unprecedented snow on the New England Highway and Waterfall Way. The SES gave us a lift back down the hill and made sure we got back to Guyah safely to get us home. Despite the chaos on the roads, it didn't stop the locals from embracing the rare snowfall. 30 centimetres and still snowing. Disappear. What else would you do? Is that snow? Making the most of it before it's gone. We're not expecting any more snow. We have seen the last of it. That cold air has moved away. But the chills could be felt across the state.
