Australian Mark Leishman finished as the top Australian in a tie for 52nd, while local favorite Shane Lowry provided an early highlight. With this win, Sheffler becomes only the fourth golfer to win the Masters, PGA Championship, and British Open before the age of 30, leaving just the US Open to complete the career Grand Slam.

I mean, I grew up waking up early to watch this tournament on TV, just hoping and dreaming I would get the chance to come play in this championship. And, you know, it's pretty cool to be sitting here with the trophy. Mark Leishman was the best of the Aussies in a tie for 52nd. Local hero Shane Lowry provided a big highlight early in the day. What a birdie. I don't believe it. But then it was time for the Sheffler show. After saying pre-tournament winning wasn't that important to him, he had a funny way of showing it. What a start, what a statement. His overnight lead of four shots turned into seven after just four holes. It's perfect golf. He would seem human on the eight. Oh! A double bogey there gave the rest of the field hope for only the briefest of moments. Oh, what a shot. Back to business for Scotty Sheffler. The back nine mastered without a blip. Sheffler now just the fourth man ever to win a Masters, PGA and British Open before the age of 30. Being able to walk up 18 with the tournament in hand is a really tough thing to describe.
