A robot dog called Spotless is being utilized to assist in environments too dangerous for humans, such as disaster areas with unknown hazards. Demonstrated by Kimberly Ellenberg from Carnegie Mellon, Spotless can detect unsafe air, assess casualties, and provide critical information to medics before they enter hazardous zones.

The robot's ability to quickly evaluate the situation, including identifying gases and checking victims' conditions, helps reduce the risks for human responders. After completing its tasks, Spotless is rewarded with a new battery, highlighting the practical and innovative use of robotics in emergency response.

Like a real dog with a good nose, Spotless can sniff the air to make sure it's safe to breathe and can even assess people's condition, injuries and heart rate included. And without the dog and without the oversight. This would have taken longer for the medics to come in because they wouldn't have known what is that gas. They wouldn't have known how many casualties are there. And after all that, Spotless gets a treat. Not a biscuit in this case, but a nice new battery. This is good. Yeah.
