Wilga told police she had lost hope of being found and remains in disbelief at her rescue. Her family in Germany has thanked the Western Australian community for their help. Despite her ordeal, Wilga has expressed her continued affection for Australia and hopes to visit the east coast in the future.

We're told she's covered in mosquito bites and has an ankle injury and will remain here for a second night. She told police she had convinced herself she would never be found and is still in disbelief at the whole ordeal. Her family in Germany elated by the news, thanking the entire WA community who helped find her. But this horrifying experience has not put Carolina off. She says she still loves Australia and is looking to tick the east coast off her bucket list.
