Early voting is underway across the country for the Voice Referendum with politicians advocating for a yes and no vote are on the hustings.

Here in Ryde is just one of more than 500 national early voting centres that have opened their doors to the public. It's open for early voting today, with the process also starting in South Australia, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. Elsewhere, the country began polling yesterday, while remote voting teams have also begun their work ahead of October 14. Yes 23 campaigners, as well as Labor and Liberal politicians, were making a pitch right here to voters on the Hustings. Well, every vote counts at the moment. I mean, there's no doubt that the yes case is the underdog. And so we're here spreading the positive energy of what yes means. Yes to progress, yes to better outcomes through listening, as opposed to no, which is locking in the policy failures of the past. Some locals casting their ballots also spoke to us about their feelings on the referendum. I voted yes, but look, I'm not from the First Nations community. But I'm not sure what is right or wrong here. But I think there needs to be a start. So I thought, well, I'll come early because on the day of the voting, it's always very busy. So no, there's not enough information out there. I voted yes. Over in Western Australia, Federal Senator Jacinta Nampajimpa-Price and Warren Mundine were both trying to corral support for the no campaign at early voting centres there. Being out on pre-poll this morning, there was certainly a sense of Western Australians really wanting to maintain a united Australia. This voice is not the way to go. And Australians are getting that. At the last federal election in 2022, more than six million people voted early. So campaigners from both yes and no are aware of how crucial these days are in the lead-up to October 14.
