Young Sue Goh, a 20-year-old college student and Scarsdale High School graduate, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after appearing for a routine immigration hearing in New York. According to her lawyer and immigration advocates, Goh's visa remains valid and she is in the process of renewing it. 

Her detention has sparked public demonstrations outside the immigration court, with faith leaders, elected officials, and community members demanding her release. Goh, who came to the United States from Korea on a religious worker visa with her mother, has not been reachable since her detention. ICE has not provided a public comment on the case.

She's 20 years old and is reportedly in good standing. That's according to her lawyer, who also says her visa hearing went well and was continued to a later date, but that is when ICE agents swooped in and took her away. Our Jessica Formoso is in the newsroom right now. She's been following that story tonight as there are growing calls for her release. Jessica. That's right, Arthur. This young woman showed up to immigration court on Thursday for what her lawyer says was a routine immigration hearing. Young Sue Goh came to the United States from Korea four years ago on a religious visa with her mom, who is a priest in the Episcopal Church. Her visa is still in good standing, set to expire in December. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound. Faith leaders, elected officials, community members and friends gathered outside immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, where 20-year-old Goh is being held. They are demanding she be released immediately. Goh, a graduate of Scarsdale High School in Westchester County and college student, was in the middle of obtaining a new visa that's according to immigration advocates. Faith leaders say they can't get in touch with her and fear she could be moved to another facility. We call for immediate release of young Sue and Teddy. Attorney Mary Davis, who is assisting the diocese with immigration and refugees, says everything went well on Thursday in court. The judge, she says, scheduled Go's next court appearance for October, but when she walked out of the courtroom, she was detained by ICE agents. Go has an application pending for a renewal of her visa, which is still in good standing. Davis says Go's detention represents a disturbing and unacceptable escalation of enforcement against individuals in good standing with pending immigration cases. As soon as she exited the court, she was surrounded by ICE officers, handcuffs placed on her and ushered out into the private area where they take people who are detained. And she has been in the building for now 48 hours. She came on a religious worker visa. It's known as an R1 visa that was issued to her mother, who is the Episcopal priest. And they came together from Korea when Sue was 16. And the initial visa was valid for two years. They renewed it in 2023. It was renewed. No, no issues. And it was valid until December 2025. Now they haven't been able to get any information as to why she was detained. We reached out to ICE for a comment and information on this case. But we haven't heard back. Arthur.
