Rainy weather is anticipated to complicate recovery efforts for the plane wreckage over Washington, D.C., according to AccuWeather's Dan DePodwin. The forecast suggests light rain throughout the day in the area, with a possibility of thunderstorms later, which could disrupt search and recovery operations. The temperatures are expected to be milder than previous days, providing a slight reprieve for emergency response teams working in the Potomac River area.

Although rain is predicted to be light, there remains a chance of a thunderstorm, with the greatest risk for lightning being south of Washington, D.C. These weather conditions might challenge recovery operations of the tragic plane collision's wreckage. However, teams are equipped with appropriate gear to ensure safe operations, regardless of the environment.

The forecast indicates that water temperatures in the Potomac River will gradually rise over the following days from the 30s into the 40s. Warmer temperatures are likely to aid recovery efforts by reducing the ice pockets present in the river. As the week progresses, Washington D.C. is expected to experience a milder climate, with daytime highs in the 50s and nighttime lows around freezing.

down. Thankfully, yesterday we had a lot of dry air and a lot of sunshine here across Washington D. C. But it has been the forecast all week. Today's a little bit of a different day for recovery efforts. Yeah, Bernie, the weather here in the D. C. Area has taken a turn to be rainy as they recover the wreckage here from the tragic accident on Wednesday night in the Potomac River. We expect rain throughout much. They're not heavy rain, but enough to be just a damp, a damp and wet day here across the area. Temperatures will be on the milder side than they have been, and that's certainly good news from a water temperature perspective. Those two water temperatures will be slowly coming up here over the next several days. You know, the rain's been relatively light this morning. The one concern that we do have, and I know we're talking with our team of experts out on the floor while it's rain right now, wouldn't be surprised that there could be a rumble of thunder in the area later, maybe later today or this evening. Yeah, Bernie, we're looking at that earlier, and it seems like there's gonna be a line of probably our thunderstorms through Virginia later on this afternoon or evening. I think the best risk for lightning is or the greatest chance for lightning is south of D. C. But probably can't completely rule out a rumble or two of thunder. And obviously, if there is lightning nearby, that might disrupt the recovery efforts, um, of the wreckage later on today. And then this will all move on out of the area later on tonight. Then we just turned dry and chillier to start the weekend. You know, that's the thing. At least, you know, it's not as cold as it was a couple of days ago. But again, the main thing is we take a look at the seven day forecast doesn't really you see no signs of winter. Absolutely none. As we start the weekend. Yeah, Bernie, it's gonna be a much milder stretch here for D. C. And I think the important thing there is for for the folks from the emergency response standpoint who are doing the recovery of the wreckage, the water temperatures will be warming up. But obviously they have plenty of different gear to be able to do this in a safe manner. But water temperatures will be coming up from the thirties, which they are now probably in the forties over the next week or so. And the ice that is still in a few pockets of the river should be diminishing as well as those temperatures warm up even into the sixties come Monday and then looks like a pretty mild week ahead with plentiful highs in the fifties and nighttime lows right around freezing.
