North Texas officials have announced comprehensive public transit plans to manage the anticipated increase in visitors for the nine FIFA World Cup matches scheduled in Arlington. The strategy includes doubling the capacity of the regional commuter train, providing charter buses, and requiring a short walk to AT&T Stadium for ticket holders.

Local residents are encouraged to drive, with over 16,000 parking spaces available, while managed toll lanes and alternate routes will help ease congestion. Both residents and visitors are urged to use public transportation, especially for Fan Fest events, as limited parking is expected and up to 30,000 attendees per event are anticipated.

Today, leaders outlined their plans to get people from across North Texas to Arlington. Fox source Lori Brown is live to explain a lorry. Hi, Clarice from the International Broadcast Center to Fan Fest at Fair Park and nine matches in Arlington. North Texas is public transportation center is about to be put to the test. Leaders say that they have a plan, but it involves trains, buses and some walking. So we're welcoming the world for the equivalent of nine Super Bowls. In 69 days, North Texas will be on a global stage, and the last thing anyone wants is gridlock. As you can imagine, our international visitors are probably more familiar with transit systems in their home countries, which is why you see the magnitude of the transit investment that we have in our particular plan. Michael Morris, director of transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments, says a key component to the region's transportation plan is adding capacity to T. R. E. The regional commuter train that connects downtown Dallas to downtown Fort Worth. Right now, T. R. E. Operates six trains with three cars each during the World Cup. Capacity will double by adding four trains with four cars each. We recommend boarding at the Victory Station in downtown Dallas and the Fort Worth Central Station in Fort Worth. Match ticket holders will get off at Centerport Station, which is still 12 miles to AT&T Stadium. From there, they will board charter buses. Those buses will then take people to a bus hub where they will need to make a 10 minutes half mile walk to the stadium. When asked why the buses don't drop people off in front, Morris explained it this way. People start screaming at their Uber driver that they can walk faster than the Uber driver can go the last half a mile because of the magnitude of traffic around the venue. You do not want to do that with a charter bus. North Texas residents have different instructions. Locals are encouraged to drive to the matches. We have over 16,000 spaces that will be allocated for general spectator parking. Um, this is just to ensure that our international visitors who may be more comfortable using a transit system have plenty of space and capacity. Another tool, the managed toll lanes on I 30 that now change directions during rush hour will change directions based on FIFA match times. Morris says the stadium opens three hours before the matches. When we have a six o'clock match, you're at minus three minus two. So you're before the peak period on more often moving in the other direction. And as for people simply trying to go about their usual business during the before and after match rush, we're encouraging them to one take maybe a different route. I mean, we have I 20. We have 1 83 is another option to I 30 to get between Dallas and Fort Worth. So we would encourage them not to take I 30 is one option. Maybe work from home is another option. Maybe vary their schedule. Both residents and visitors are encouraged to use darts green lines. You get to fan fest for the festivities there.
