Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters took to the streets of New York City, marching from Times Square to the Israeli consulate to the United Nations. The protest was organized by 'Within our Lifetime' to show support for Gaza. Some pro-Israeli protesters formed a protest of their own.

The resounding rallying cries echoed underneath the sound of drums and megaphones Friday night as pro-Palestinian supporters continued their call for action. Earlier thousands marched through the streets from Times Square to the Israeli consulate then to the United Nations where cameras caught police taking at least two people into custody. I didn't send my son to school today because I was very worried. Junior Carreño, one of the many New Yorkers on edge today not knowing what was going to happen. We just got off the subway train like right into it we didn't know this was happening. This protest organized by a Palestinian-led community organization called Within Our Lifetime, an event to show unwavering support for Gaza. It's something like this can happen over here like it happened in Israel, it can happen also over here, like it happened in 9-11. There was a security officer in uniform today, many marching alongside the protesters to keep the peace. Yes, there was anger here, lots of shouting on both sides as some pro-Israeli supporters formed a protest of their own. A fight that seems to have no end, not abroad and not here at home. Everyone is afraid in many different ways, there is pain, and if we don't listen to the pain, and if we don't actually learn what a new paradigm is, and what it can look like in this world, I don't actually know what happens next. Again, there are no credible threats here in New York City and NYPD says that still remains the same tonight. Most of the protesters, as we said, are starting to go home now and no marches or rallies are planned for this weekend. Yes, the fighting still goes on and what we leave here with today, even though there was peace and civility, there is still, like that woman said, a lot.
