That includes banning the public display of symbols of listed terrorist organisations, including ISIS, Hamas and Hezbollah, with a penalty of up to two years in prison. This is already illegal at the federal level. However, Chris Minns today said these state laws will leave no room for ambiguity. He'll also move to ban the chant Globalise, the Intifada, the Premier today saying it encourages violence in the community. Police will also have greater powers when it comes to asking people to remove face coverings at public assemblies. Currently, police can only ask people to remove a face covering if they're suspected of committing a serious indictable offence, but the new laws would open up that police power to any kind of offence. Things have changed since Sunday. We don't live in that world anymore. This is the truth. The most important job of any government is to protect its citizens, and that means that you use every tool in the arsenal. As he looks for bipartisan support, the Premier today gave credit to the New South Wales opposition. He says that some of these were their suggestions. However, Huw, the coalition says that they'll be waiting on the detail before making a call. And now, Hannah, all of this comes as the investigation into the accused gunman continues. Yeah, that's right, Huw. 24-year-old Naveed Akram remains in hospital. Now, he has been charged, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Sunday's attack, including carrying out more raids as recently as yesterday. The Commissioner gave an update earlier today. Take a listen.
