A 33-year-old woman, who was eight months pregnant, died along with her unborn child after being struck by a vehicle in Hornsby, New South Wales. The incident occurred as the woman was walking with her husband and three-year-old son near a train station car park when a Kia Carnival, slowed to let the family cross, was rear-ended by a BMW sedan, causing the Kia to move forward and hit the woman.

The BMW was driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, who was subsequently arrested and charged with negligent and dangerous driving occasioning death, as well as causing the loss of an unborn baby. Both drivers were initially taken in for testing and released, and police believe the crash was captured on video. Papazoglu was refused bail and is set to face a judge.

Fighting for life at the edge of a driveway, a 33-year-old woman, 8 months pregnant, her distraught husband watching on as their toddler cries out for his mother. Police say the woman, a pedestrian, was the casualty of a car crash in Hornsby around 8 o'clock last night. The lady was walking with her family, which included her husband and their 3-year-old son. It's alleged the 48-year-old driver of this Kia Carnival was turning into the train station car park and slowed to let the family cross when his vehicle was rear-ended by this BMW sedan jolting the Kia forward. Behind the wheel, P-plater, 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu. Any serious crash is very confronting for first responders and particularly tragic when people pass away and indeed when there's children involved. The mother was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical and unstable condition, but she and her baby sadly couldn't be saved. Both drivers taken in for testing, but released. I believe the incident has been captured on some footage. The matter is subject of further investigation. Early this morning, authorities came knocking on Papazoglu's front door where he was arrested and charged with negligent driving, dangerous driving, occasioning death and causing the loss of an unborn baby. He was today refused bail and will face a judge tomorrow. This is a terrible, terrible story. Olivia Blunden, 10 News.
