Pope Leo welcomed a group of renowned Hollywood celebrities, including Greta Gerwig, Spike Lee, Monica Bellucci, and Cate Blanchett, to the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. During the gathering, Cate Blanchett presented the Pope with a bracelet symbolizing solidarity with displaced people. 

The pontiff spoke about his affection for cinema and expressed concerns about the industry's decline, urging filmmakers to create works that promote human dignity and address difficult subjects. Pope Leo, who grew up during Hollywood's golden age, also shared that 'The Sound of Music' is among his favorite films, emphasizing the power of art to bring people together.

As he hosted stars of the silver screen, Pope Leo opened up about his love of cinema and his concerns about the industry, lamenting what he calls its troubling decline. Good cinema promotes human dignity, he says. Do not be afraid to confront the world's wounds. His Holiness' words today were a real charge, not to shy away from difficult, painful stories, and he was talking about tears that often people are unable to shed in their everyday life, as well as laughter, you know, that often happens in the cinema. The Pope's plea? Keep creating and inspiring audiences. I was surprised to me that I even got a... I was invited. The pontiff, who was born in Chicago, grew up in the heyday of Hollywood.
