A 23-year-old man was killed in a hit and run incident on Old Currajong Road in Richmond, New South Wales. The victim was discovered by a passing motorist who attempted first aid, but he died at the scene. 

Shortly after, a Nissan Navara ute crashed in nearby North Richmond, with the 41-year-old driver sustaining only minor injuries. Police have seized the vehicle for forensic testing and are investigating any connection between the two incidents. Local residents expressed sadness over the loss and noted that the area has seen previous road incidents.

Police swarm a quiet road at Richmond where a young man was left to die. It's devastating and heartbreaking for that young kid, I think, his family and friends in our community. It's a sad loss. The 23-year-old was mowed down yesterday evening along Old Currajong Road, discovered by a passing motorist who raised the alarm and gave first aid, but he died at the scene. I just heard a bunch of sirens and stuff. I just lived down the road down there and it kept me up for a while and I wasn't sure what happened. Then an hour later, a ute crash at nearby North Richmond. The Nissan Navara rolled through dense scrub before it came to a rest. Somehow the 41-year-old driver only suffered minor injuries. As he recovers in hospital, police seized the ute for forensic testing and with the crash happening around 10 minutes away from the hit and run, they're now investigating any possible links. Honestly, it's still a lot to really process, but like it's just horrible to say. The 23-year-old is understood to have lived in the area and flowers now mark the spot where his life was cut short. Sadly, locals say this isn't the first time they've seen trouble on this road. Been a few crashes here before. There have been, there's burnouts all the time through here as well. It's just, yeah, it's pretty bad sometimes. Hannah Taylor, 10 News.
