Chin reportedly called for a kitchen knife and, after a confrontation, allegedly stabbed the boy multiple times. The defence argues that Chin acted out of fear, believing she was protecting herself and her children. The court is considering whether her actions constitute self-defence.

The girl said she saw her little brother crying and hesitating when he gave her the knife. He didn't know what to do. She then tried to get in between her boyfriend and her mum. I said, Ma, you'll be the one who goes to jail for this. She said, I don't care, he's an intruder. Mrs Chin allegedly stabbed the boy twice in the chest and twice in the back. The teenager said she called triple zero, thinking he was going to die. The central issue in this case is self-defence. Mrs Chin's lawyer argues she was acting out of fear. She thought he was an intruder and she was trying to protect herself and her children.
