According to the WHO, only 13 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza are partially functional, with over 1,700 health workers killed since October 2023. 

The lack of operational health care facilities has worsened the humanitarian crisis, with infectious diseases reportedly spreading rapidly. The WHO estimates that rebuilding Gaza's health system will require more than $7 billion, and has called for unrestricted medical aid, the resumption of medical evacuations, and a lasting peace. The release of this information coincides with ongoing prisoner and hostage exchanges between Israel and Hamas under a recent ceasefire agreement.
