The New South Wales Rugby League has launched its first-ever Reconciliation Action Plan, with the aim of fostering stronger relationships with First Nations communities and providing more opportunities for Indigenous people at all levels of the sport. The plan includes partnerships with organisations such as the Kari Foundation, Klontarf Foundation, and Deadly Choices, focusing on health, education, and community engagement. The game does so well with mixing culture and footy. You start to dig deeper into the culture and you start to feel that connection. It's enabling kids to feel good about their identity and their Aboriginality. I'll get tingles thinking about it. For Indigenous Rugby League Great Cliff Lions, the Reconciliation Action Plan launch signals not just the strength of the connection between footy and First Nations communities, but provides a pathway for the next generation to thrive. It's just fantastic for the young people coming through and I'm just happy to be a part of it. According to New South Wales Rugby League, over the next two years the success of this inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan will be measured by its ability to strengthen relationships, embed respect and create opportunities for Indigenous people at all levels, both on and off the field.
