At a press conference, the Police Commissioner stated that the matter has been referred to the professional standards command. The Commissioner emphasized that officers should have confidence in the internal processes to handle such matters. It was noted that the conduct commission found no evidence of police interference with the criminal investigation into the crash.

Now, the conduct commission has found two cases of serious misconduct involving this man. It relates to a crash in the North Connex Tunnel in May last year. The man is alleged to have left the scene to avoid a breath test. And the second finding of serious misconduct relates to being deliberately deceptive on an insurance claim. But it's actually a favourable treatment from fellow police officers following that incident that has sent this matter to the conduct commission. This is a dark day for us. But as has been said and I've said, I've already referred this matter today to the professional standards command and officers should have confidence that we will do that. Sandra, it is worth noting this conduct commission has found no evidence that police interfered with the criminal investigation into that crash in the North Connex Tunnel.
