The storm brought golf ball-sized hail, damaging winds—including a 91 km/h gust on the Sunshine Coast—and over 90 millimetres of rain in an hour, causing flooding and property damage.

Emergency services responded to 122 calls for assistance, and 30,000 homes temporarily lost power, though restoration is complete. Authorities warn that more severe weather is expected, with the risk of flash flooding and minor river rises in the coming days.

At the peak of the chaos, 30,000 homes lost power, all now restored. And after the fury, a brief moment of peace. But as one storm passes, that doesn't mean we're in the clear. More severe weather is on the way tonight and tomorrow. Authorities say now is the time to stay alert. Flash flooding is fairly likely within those severe thunderstorms if we have that rain falling at a fast rate. With several days of moderate rainfall across a fairly broad area, we are expecting to see some river rises, but they should stay below the minor flood level. Hannah Watt, 10 News.
