Witnesses in the San Diego area were taken by surprise as they witnessed the luminous phenomena in the night sky last week. Astronomers have clarified that these lights were not extraterrestrial in nature but rather remnants of space equipment from China falling back to the planet.

It's now trying to plow through the upper atmosphere. It heats up, starts to glow, and it breaks up into chunks. We knew it was coming down, but we didn't know exactly when, and of course it caused quite a lot of alarm.
