Medical charity Médecins Sans Frontières has condemned the shooting of hundreds of Palestinians near aid distribution hubs run by Israel-approved U.S. contractor, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has condemned the shooting of Palestinians near aid distribution hubs in Gaza managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a US contractor approved by Israel. According to the United Nations, over 400 Palestinians have been killed near these sites since GHF began operations, and MSF reports treating hundreds of wounded individuals.

GHF, which runs four aid sites in Israeli military zones, denies any fatalities at its distribution points and accuses MSF and other critics of conducting a smear campaign. Eyewitnesses claim crowds are regularly shot at, while the Israel Defense Forces state they only fire warning shots at suspicious individuals. Allegations have also surfaced from unnamed Israeli soldiers about orders to fire on civilians, which Israel's prime minister has denied. The United States has announced additional funding for GHF.

In Gaza, the daily struggle for survival has a new dimension. One where you have to choose between letting your family starve or risking your life. So say aid agencies critical of a private U.S. contractor backed by Israel to provide aid in Gaza. The U.N. says more than 400 Palestinians have been killed near aid hubs run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation or GHF since it began operating in May. Médecins Sans Frontières calls its slaughter masquerading as humanitarian aid. It's not humanitarian. Humanitarian is going to provide aid for people who are most in need with dignity. Canadian Dr. Joanne Perry is MSF's medical team leader in Gaza. Since June 7th, we've received 423 people wounded from being at or around the sites. GHF runs four aid sites in military zones controlled by the Israel Defense Forces. And eyewitnesses say crowds are regularly shot at. The IDF says it fires warning shots at suspect people. We contacted GHF for comment. They insist there have been no Palestinian fatalities near their distribution sites and accuse Médecins Sans Frontières and other critics of a smear campaign. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz has published allegations by unnamed Israeli soldiers who say they were ordered to open fire on civilians near aid sites. Israel's prime minister denounces the claims. So fraught is the aid situation that some Gazan clan leaders have come together to protect what little other aid is allowed in. To deliver a message of safety to Palestinians, says Dr. Alaa al-Din al-Aklouk, to deliver aid without any violence. It was not clear if Hamas’ statement meant it had accepted the proposal from US President Donald Trump for a 60-day ceasefire.
