Minnesota experienced unusually warm November weather, with temperatures reaching the 70s in the Twin Cities area. Residents took advantage of the mild conditions by spending time outdoors, dining outside, and completing tasks like putting up Christmas lights and raking leaves. 

Meteorologists report that the warm spell will end as a cold front moves in, bringing cooler temperatures and increased winds. While the next day will remain above average, temperatures are expected to drop to seasonal norms by the following week, with highs in the 40s and lows in the upper 20s and low 30s.

Today was a beautiful November day. By any standards, many of us experiencing weather in the 70s, so we sent out our Fox 9's Leon Purvis to see how people spent their warmer than usual. November day he joins us now live from our weather deck. Leon, how's it feeling out there right now? Mary, it's pretty warm out here. I don't have a jacket on or anything and it feels great and you know, many people didn't have a coat on, but they might have a light jacket on. You know, just in case there's a little bit of a breeze. It's a great place to go on a warmer day than to a lake and many people were out and about at Cedar Lake getting their steps in or biking. Some were even on the river, but the fun didn't end there. People took advantage of the warm weather tonight in Uptown. I caught up with one woman who was experiencing outdoor dining in November. It's so wonderful, such a pleasant surprise just to go outside and be able to walk and not have to wear a coat is great. Now, with the warm weather, it's a great time to do some outdoor work like put up Christmas lights. Tis the season of getting a head start before it gets cold. A Christmas lighting company had crews putting up one customers lights. The owner says weather like this makes for a smooth day. Well, it makes us more efficient. I mean, we're already super, super busy when the weather is better. Things get done faster. Guys that are outside are much more effective and getting the job done. So it's a great time to get creative and getting it done in a timely fashion and not getting cold and wet and it's it's it's pretty much a win win when the weather is like this, you know, we wish it would last. Now tomorrow is not going to be as warm as it was today, but it will still be somewhat warm. But then next week it's supposed to cool down. So enjoy the weekend while you can. I remember last year I didn't we didn't have a chance to rake up all of our leaves before the snow was falling. I think it snowed a little bit on Halloween last year it did and now we have 70 so people can do those things like get their Christmas lights up and finish their raking. Oh my gosh, we deal with the white stuff. Now the big question is, is your Christmas tree up yet? I'm a firm believer in the day after Thanksgiving. Oh, my husband disagrees with me, but I like Christmas during Christmas. Thanksgiving during Thanksgiving, I can etc. I can agree with that. I know a lot of people have them up, especially in our neighborhood as well, so I haven't put mine up hours up yet, but I think I might do it this weekend. Didn't feel like Christmas today though. No, it didn't feel like like Easter or. I don't know Memorial Day or something like it was a beautiful day. Plenty of sunshine, record breaking highs, and that's all going to go away, but that's expected. It's November in Minnesota. Well, I mean, it's not a surprise that it's going to go away. Cloud cover continues to increase across the air area, and over towards our West we have this cold front. The cold front moves across Minnesota and Wisconsin as soon as tomorrow morning, and that's going to lower temperatures to still take a tumble. However, we will be above average tomorrow, so we just won't be with the 70s anymore. Live look outside downtown Minneapolis looking nice and bright. 66 is our current temperature dew point of 48 and winds from the South Southwest at 10 miles an hour or so. Our winds are currently from the South Southwest allowing us to stay mild and comfortable as you just saw. Leon was out and about and he was saying it's nice and warm outside. 66 currently, but after that cold front passes, the winds will shift to out of the Northwest and that's going to allow us to pull in that cooler air mass. 64 in Winona, 48 currently in Brainerd. Morris 50 Marshall 62 winds coming in from the Southwest sustained at about 10 to 15 miles an hour. But if you take a look up towards North Dakota, you can see the winds. These streamlines are coming in from the Northwest. That's where that cold front is at the moment where these winds converge. And so that will continue to move down and give us the cooler air. Tonight, 47 for your low cloudy, breezy at times behind the cold front. Winds will be gusting up to 30 miles an hour from the Northwest by tomorrow afternoon, reaching temperatures in the upper 40s, low 50s, but it will feel cooler because of the wind. It's going to be just like a cool wind. Today we have a warm wind. Tomorrow a little different, but plenty of sunshine by tomorrow evening. A nice clear sky, 38 for temperature. Here's our futurecast overnight. We say, excuse me, we say cloudy in that cold front. It may, it might drop a sprinkle or two, but it's not impressive. It's mainly most of us, if not all of us stay dry, but we say cloudy through the overnight and then by tomorrow late morning into the afternoon. Plenty of sunshine just like today, but you'll need a jacket and then by Sunday we will be staying quiet and dry and sunny, but we will be back to average. So 53 tomorrow by Sunday for the Vikings game, 45 for the daytime high, feeling a little more like November football. And then by next week, our temperatures, they stay in the 40s, overnight lows stay in the upper 20s and low 30s. But again, that is November in Minnesota. So it's not a surprise that we're saying goodbye to the 70s, but it was fun while it lasted. Sure was.
