The marches, which have increased in size over recent weeks, are motivated by reports and images of mass starvation, particularly affecting women and children in Gaza.

Despite the growing support for the cause, the Mexican president has stated that there are no plans to cut ties with Israel. Instead, the government continues to advocate for a ceasefire and supports a two-state solution as a resolution to the conflict. The demonstrations have remained largely peaceful, with significant participation from youth groups, university organizations, and families.

This is the latest of a series of marches that has taken place here in the Mexican capital over the last few weeks and which have actually been growing in numbers, fueled of course by the images and the news that we've all seen coming out of Gaza of mass starvation, especially of women and children. What is happening hurts all of us Mexicans. It hurts us because of our own children. If we get used to this, we will cease to be human. Mexico can play a leading role in Latin America. We should raise our voices as leaders in this continent and say, stop the genocide. So the numbers have been growing. The support here in Mexico for this cause I think has been growing. One example of it is this monument that has been set up here by organizations, pro-Palestinian organizations, calling for a stop to genocide. And also we see images here of our colleagues from Al Jazeera that were killed in recent days. Now this march today is in front of the Mexican foreign ministry where protesters are demanding that Mexico cut ties, diplomatic and economic ties, with the state of Israel. Now the Mexican president has been asked directly about that issue and she has said her government has no plans to do that. Instead she's been calling for a ceasefire and has supported the two-state solution as a viable option for an end to this conflict. Now today's march has been largely made up of young people. There's a lot of university organizations, youth groups, workers unions and there's also a lot of families, small children and so forth. And it's gone, it's been largely peaceful, even though there has been a fairly heavy police presence. Julia Galeano, Al Jazeera, Mexico City.
