Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched through central Melbourne, shutting down roads and calling for change in response to the situation in Gaza. The demonstration began at the State Library and proceeded through the city, with participants expressing solidarity with similar actions elsewhere, including a reference to a Harbour Bridge shutdown in Sydney.

The event saw heightened tensions, with at least two counter-protesters arrested following scuffles. Police deployed officers from multiple units, including the Mounted Branch and Public Order Response Unit, to manage the protest and maintain order. By the end of the demonstration, most protesters had dispersed, but police remained on standby.

The pro-Palestinian activists were greeted with a human barrier. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Your hand, hold up the right! I mean, is this really necessary? Look at them, they're fully armed, ready to attack innocent civilians and protesters. We are not armed, we are not anti-Semitic, we are not violent. We are a beautiful community coming together to protest the genocide and make people aware of what is going on. Hundreds of police officers were redeployed and called in from the Mounted Branch, Public Order Response Unit and Highway Patrol, in a bid to stop the shutdown.
