At least six new wildfires ignited along Colorado's Western Slope over the weekend, bringing the total number of wildfires burning across state and federal lands to more than 10.

The Lee Fire has prompted a pre-evacuation order for the town of Meeker as it spreads over 22,000 acres without containment, while the nearby Elk Fire has burned more than 8,000 acres and is also uncontained. Fire crews report that grass and irrigated fields are currently slowing the fires, but there is significant risk of the flames reaching Meeker. Additionally, the Stoner Mesa Fire in Dolores County has grown to 350 acres and is displaying extreme fire behavior as it spreads eastward.

Both of those fires are 0% contained right now and crews say the grass and irrigated fields are holding the fire, but the potential for it to jump into the town of Meeker is high and there's a new fire burning west of tell you right tonight, the stoner Mesa fire. This one is inside the San Juan National Forest in Dolores County. It's 350 acres, 0% contained and officials say this fire is exhibiting quote extreme fire behavior and it's spreading east.
