MediSecure has confirmed it has suffered a data breach after a recent cyber attack, with the medical data of 12.9 million Australians exposed. They have reassured customers and patients that prescription services remain unaffected.

Earlier, MediSecure confirmed a significant data breach that compromised a wide range of personal data following a cyber attack. The attack, which occurred in May, has resulted in the exposure of personal information including full names, phone numbers, dates of birth, Medicare numbers, Medicare expiry dates, and prescription details. 

The leaked prescription data includes the types of drugs prescribed, their strength, and the reasons for the prescriptions. MediSecure revealed that the breach affects 12.9 million Australians.

The National Cyber Security agency stated that the cyber attack has not impacted the national prescription delivery service. It should also be noted that MediSecure went into voluntary administration in June, a month after the attack.

Now the National Cyber Security released a statement saying there is no impact to current national prescription delivery service across the country, but it is important to note that MediSecure went into voluntary administration in June, one month after the attack and Ursula obviously 12.9 million Australians data being leaked is a concern for the public.
