Thousands attended Flemington Racecourse to witness Observer win the $2 million Victorian Derby, leading the entire 2,500 metres. Jockey Mark Zara made history by securing four wins on the day, becoming only the fourth jockey to achieve this feat at the event.

Other highlights included Tentaris winning the Group 1 Coolmore Sprint and Pride of Jenny taking the Empire Rose Stakes. In Sydney, Autumn Globe won the $10 million Golden Eagle, further establishing its reputation as a top Australian racehorse.
