If convicted, his scheduling conference is set for 8 30 this morning. Court records show the man who killed and dismembered shot a Robinson last year in Milwaukee has taken the first steps toward an appeal. Maxwell Anderson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Last Friday, court records now show he's being held at the Dodge Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison in Waupon. Anderson is now seeking a public defender to represent him moving forward. Well, right now, a family in Racine is mourning the loss of a 15 year old girl who drowned last week at Kerry Hogle Park. Sheilani Williams was pulled from the water 15 minutes after going under, but she later died at Children's Wisconsin. Williams turned 15 in May and was about to be a sophomore at Horlick High School. Her grandmother says she was on Horlick's wrestling team and wanted to follow in her older brother's footsteps going into the military. She loved it and she was good. She was mean, not mean, but you know, she was a fighter. So, um, she loved wrestling and she planned on doing wrestling throughout high school. It's devastating. She was far too young. It shouldn't happen this way. That's just a pain that you cannot describe. And Sheilani will be laid to rest Friday afternoon. Her family is accepting donations for funeral costs on a go fund me. And Sheilani's drowning in Racine is sadly one of many drownings involving kids that we have covered this past summer. On June 29, 17 year old Messiah Beeman Perry drowned in a swimming accident out on Peewalkie Lake. Then on July 15th, the 13 year old boy drowned at JC Corey Park in Boygan. Then on July 22nd, 14 year old Kyle Williams, a boy from Milwaukee, drowned in Lake Michigan in Illinois. It is 505. And this morning, a search is underway in Norway for a missing journalist from Wisconsin. Alec Loon is an experienced hiker who has completed a number of solo trips, but his wife reported him missing monday after he failed to board his flight home. She says she last spoke to in thursday before he left for a hike in southwest Norway to Racine County now where the Sturtevant Village Board is exploring the idea of shutting down the police department and outsourcing the job to the Racine County Sheriff. And we learned about this after the executive director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association emailed us. He says Sturtevant's officers hope more media coverage will shed light on this plan. So TMJ four attended Tuesday night's packed village meeting and spoke with residents like Rose who supports the change but wants transparency and Brent, the Sturtevant Police Association president who says they're being left in the dark. I would strongly urge this board to post the facts about exactly what the sheriff's department will do and what our current police department and the communication hasn't been there between the village side and us. We've had no talks with any of the trustees, no communication as far as their plans with this and we're looking to get that communication and trustees denied to make a comment except for the village president who is openly supporting local police. No decision has been made on what's next for the village. The Milwaukee transit system is making big changes this fall, ones that will impact 40 out of its 46 bus routes across Milwaukee County. This includes more frequent service on route 57 63 and the blue line. I'm Meryl Hubbard here to break down how these changes could impact your day to day. The full service updates starting august 24th are part of the move 2025 plan shaped by community and driver feedback. You'll see 95 new bus stop locations and four brand new routes including route 59 on Drexel Avenue, Route 73 on Mill Road, Route 74 on South 43rd Street and Miller Parkway and Route 82 on South 13th and Howell Avenue. Walter Missouri is a regular passenger on Route 57 and he says it's a slow one. My experience on the 57 is it's a weight. If you missed the 57, you don't take a while to come. While route 57 will have more frequent service during peak hours. M. C. T. S. Tells me it will have reduced service on weekends and midday. M. C. T. S. Currently has a $10.9 million deficit due to unexpected expenses and lower passenger revenue.
