This is a really quiet neighborhood, so I was really surprised that this happened. Good evening, and thanks for joining us on this Saturday night. I'm Christina Rendon. We do begin with that homicide investigation in Pleasanton. Police swarming a home after the deadly shooting and arresting the alleged gunman. KTVU's Betty Yu spoke with neighbors who knew the suspect. She joins us in studio now with more. Betty. Christina, a massive police presence was highly unusual for this quiet residential street. Several neighbors told me they didn't hear any gunshots and didn't see any signs of trouble before this deadly shooting. Officers moved in with guns drawn toward a home on Helper Court in Pleasanton, the moment captured by a neighbor watching through a fence. When I started watching, they actually were telling him, put your hands above your head, walk out of the house slowly, lay on the ground, and then they arrested him. Pleasanton police say they responded to reports of a shooting just after 930 Friday night. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound and attempted life-saving measures. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, 28-year-old Lucas Chan, was arrested at the scene. He's facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder. Police also discovered suspicious items in the home, including possible improvised explosive devices, which were safely removed. I was not expecting that at all, actually. I mean, from what I remember, when we were kids, he was a really nice guy. You know, we were kind of all friends, like all the kids in the neighborhood were friends. I mean, I remember, you know, going to the rope swings and stuff like that as a kid. Another neighbor, Alex Jimenez, went to school with Chan. He was my classmate. He was always into kind of some trouble. I mean, he was always kind of into BB guns and stuff like that. Jimenez says they lost touch over the years, but he remembers one disturbing moment. When I was a little bit younger, he tried to get me to build something like that when I was in, like, the fifth grade or something like that, but he never was able to do that, so. An explosive device or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Multiple neighbors said Chan lived at the home with his parents. The parents were really friendly. There was the mom. I never really talked to her, but the dad, he would work on the cars with Lucas. On Saturday, crime scene cleaners were seen entering the home. Police say there was no significant prior history of calls to that address. Now, at this time, police have not released the name of the victim. Lucas Chan remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail with no bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday. Christina? Betty, you and Studio for us tonight. Betty, thank you.
