A man was arrested Monday inside Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after his family alerted police that he was having "mental challenges" and had threatened to "shoot it up."

Atlanta police arrested a 49-year-old man after his family reported that he had discussed plans to fire shots at the city's airport during a video call. The family provided police with his photograph, which helped officers locate him at the terminal. 

Authorities found a Springfield AR-15 assault rifle and 27 rounds of ammunition in the man's vehicle parked outside the airport. The individual, identified as a felon, has been charged with making terroristic threats and criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault while armed.
