A murderer has left the NSW Supreme Court in an ambulance. Paul Sultana had just been found guilty of killing his ex-partner Dayna Isaac when he collapsed after appearing to self-harm.

Paul Soltana has been convicted of murdering Dana Isaac, a mother of two, in Penrith. The court found that Soltana, who had been in a relationship with Isaac, killed her after she asked him to remove his belongings from her unit. Evidence presented included Soltana's DNA on the cord used in the crime, and the court heard that Isaac had been beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted. Justice Garling described Soltana as jealous and wanting an exclusive relationship. After the verdict, Soltana collapsed in court and was taken to hospital. Isaac's family expressed relief at the outcome, with her father remembering her for the life she lived.

The next day, his DNA was found on the court wrapped around Ms Isaac's neck. She had been beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted. The accused was jealous of the deceased, Justice Garling said. Soltana wanted a settled relationship in which he was the only male figure. Moments after being found guilty, Soltana collapsed. This trip to hospital could be Soltana's last time outside the confines of a prison for many years. Justice Garling is hopeful of sentencing Soltana within the next three months. It's just a very sad, sad day all round. No more so than for Dana Isaac's family, coupled with some relief her killer will end up behind bars. We got him!
