At the Charlie Kirk Memorial, U.S. President Donald Trump savored it all. And the same commentators who this week are screaming fascism over a canceled late night TV show where the anchor had no talent and no ratings. Major stars, including Canada's Sarah McLachlan, pulled out of an ABC event. And many in Hollywood were frustrated with Disney. I think the pressure on them had more to do with the perception that they were kowtowing to Trump and this feeling that media companies need to stand up for their talent. By Monday, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston, Martin Short and 400 celebrities signed an ACLU letter describing the moment as McCarthy-era censorship, inspired in part by the comments federal broadcast regulator Brendan Carr made last week. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel. Many interpreted that as the government threatening local stations. And indeed soon after, many pulled Kimmel from their schedules. By Monday, Carr was denying any government pressure. Some Senate Democrats had said the FCC threatened to revoke the license of Disney and ABC if they didn't fire Jimmy Kimmel. And that did not happen in any way, shape or form. For now, Kimmel will get back on air, but America remains as polarized as ever. Obviously, Donald Trump still thinks he's got the power to anoint and appoint comedians in the country in private media broadcasts, but at least ABC is on the right side now. And this from the executive producer of Charlie Kirk's show. ABC caving is not surprising, but it's their mistake to make. Adrian, late tonight, Sinclair, which is the largest owner of ABC stations, has said it will not be airing Kimmel's new shows. And Eli, what do we know about what Jimmy Kimmel will do on his first new show? That is the question. Now, according to reports, one reason why Disney pulled the plug was that Kimmel did not attend to apologize per se.
